The Forever stamp will also be available at many convenience and grocery stores beginning this spring.
New Forever Stamp Goes On Sale April 12 For $0.41
The first forever stamp will depict the image of the Liberty Bell (shown above)
The forever stamp will cost $0.41 which is the same price as a first class stamp will be after the next postal rate hike on May 14, 2007.
The stamp has the word "Forever" written on it instead of a price and will remain valid when sending a letter no matter how much postal rates rise in the future.
The forever stamp should be purchased as a convenience. By remaining valid for sending a letter forever, the forever stamp will eliminate the annoyance of having to purchase two-cent stamps to make up the new rate when prices rise and any other increases in future years. While some have also speculated that the forever stamp would be a good investment, it should not be purchased as such since in reality it is a very poor investment opportunity.
